Post- Release Services for Clients: TECHNO Bridging The Gap In Virginia acknowledges that the advancement of technology has had a major influence on the community. Therefore we will offer TECHNO training, which will allow individuals to learn how to navigate on the internet via computers. These classes will further help individuals to utilize mobile devices. Participates will have opportunities to gain knowledge through technology which will allow for a smoother transition into the community.
Emergency Assistance Bridging The Gap In Virginia will provided assistance to those individuals in need. Emergency aid will consist of providing food, clothing, assistance with transportation and funding towards acquiring proper identification, personal information and needed documents.
Budget for Success Participates whom have gained employment will have the opportunity to learn how to budget income to help in obtaining life goals. Classes will include information on building good credit, restoring credit, home buying opportunities and entrepreneurship.
Job Readiness and Employment Assistance Finding employment is a major barrier for individuals recently released from incarceration, therefore Bridging The Gap In Virginia is dedicated to aiding in the finding employment process. Bridging the Gap will offer job readiness training which includes creating resume and cover letters, interviewing skills, workplace etiquette and much more. BTGIV will further register participants with the Virginia workforce and connect individuals will a wide array of employers who will offer onsite training as well as employ those who are qualified for certain positions.
AGE IN PLACE Bridging the gap will offer courses for the elderly community. Courses will allow individuals to learn how to age in place. Courses will also offer opportunities for affordable personal care assistants as well as home care.
GOOGLE EXPLORERS This program will incorporate the youth population for after school activities. Participants will have the opportunity to gain learning experience in math and science through fun, interactive games.
Thinking for a Change (T4C): Bridging the Gap In Virginia will incorporate The Department of Corrections model of Thinking for a Change. This model will be presented through case management meetings and encouraged during group sessions. Thinking for a Change is a cognitive-behavioral change programs that discourages criminal thinking and behaviors. The increase utilization of this program will reduce the likelihood for individuals who participate to re-offend.
Life Skill Support Groups Bridging The Gap In Virginia has identified the need for support groups specifically geared towards the learning and conducting basic life skills within the community. These support groups will offer individuals an opportunity to discuss the challenges and success that they encounter while trying to reintegrate within the community. These sessions will also address Support groups will include weekly training's that will help participants to be self-sustaining within the community.
